To my long lost twin, Asri

So I've just barely recovered (physically, lol)  from my 17 hour and 10 minute car ride, but emotionally? I've never felt more refreshed. And that's coz I've spent 12 out of those 17 hours with Asri.

Early disclaimer : This isn't a romantic post, lol.

Anyway, this asri guy. What's funny is that I've just met him; literally, 3 days ago. We are in the same organization together (Edufication) and he texted to inform me he was in the area (my area, Putrajaya).  Long story short, I asked him out together with *Evanna (another member of Edufication) and we went to have dessert and drinks at Serai, Jaya Mall.

Hands down, the easiest connection ever with people I've only gotten to know online.  I think that's hugely due to **Sam's wisdom in selecting like-minded people (but also people who can think independently). I liked them instantly. I felt like an idiot for feeling so nervous before the meet-up coz vibing with them was a piece of cake (and we did have cake, yum)

Anyway, after like an hour of talking, Asri had the audacity to ask permission to leave coz he had to catch his bus back to Pahang (he's a teacher at MRSM Muadzam Shah). Of course I couldn't let him leave. So I offered to drive him there. It was a no brainer. That decision didn't even need consideration, and I'm supposedly a logical thinker. Thankfully, he accepted the offer, so we stayed around to talk for 2 more hours before he really had to go and settle some stuff. We agreed that the drive to Pahang can wait the next day and Eva and I stayed around for bit to search for his birthday pressie (asri's birthday was the next day). We bought ourselves 3 matching tshirts, 1 for asri obviously, to commemorate our first hang out. And a cute card telling him what a KING he issss!

20/09/2021

Woke up at 3.15am and head off for Asri's hotel in Ampang at 4.10am. Arrived at his hotel 5am sharp.
First thing I did? Of course wished him a happy birthday!

I'm not the type to celebrate birthdays (so Asri, if you're reading this, please acknowledge this is a one time thing looool) but it felt good celebrating a friend's birthday like that. I feel 16 again. Usually with ma besties, I just wish them a HB and take them out to eat.

Anyway, that was the start of our 12 hour journey. And boyyyyyyyyyyy was it funnnn! Asri and I have a looootttt in common. We kept repeating to each other

" OMGG WE SHOULD'VE MET SOONER"

Things we talked about
- our families
- our love interests (all the trauma included lol)
- interesting experiences in our careers and studies
- our quirks and just how awesome each other are! hahahaha

Things we have in common
- how we love people
- how we are as friends (to other people)
- our views on feminism
- our families' beliefs
- our political views
- our luck in life
- the kind of relationship we build with lecturers and our students
- how highly we think of each other ahaksss

Things we differ
- how to celebrate birthdays
* i dont like birthdays a whole lot and asri... dude he was entertaining fans the whole 12 hours of our ride. Retis siotttt!

I literally felt like I've known Asri all my life, its just that we don't know the details of each other's lives yet. THE 12 HOURS LEGIT DID NOT FEEL ENOUGH.

Then we met Sam, the coolest guy ever,.. like, I don't even need to elaborate. Sam's awesomeness is something everyone can agree on. He deserves every ounce of hype he gets.

Please notice our matching tshirts!! <3

Then we went back to his MRSM before I finally went back home (sobs)

I think what's unique about Asri is that he feels safe. And what I feel is echoed by other women in his life cuz they all feel he's safe too. In today's world, to find a man you can truly feel safe around despite knowing him in less than 24 hours is nothing less than a miracle okay?? For anyone who knows me, I hate calls, especially from men. But when asri called me (I was lost omy back home), I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. And when I told him I had some goss and his response was "Wanna call?" I didn't say no, just later. Dudeeeee, I usually develop this level of comfy after months or years of knowing people.

Anddddd I think he basically cured my imposter syndrome. FOR REAL. Hear me out okay. Asri is like my twin (in character). And I think he's an awesome awesome dude. So if Asri is awesome, and he is like me,.. then I must be awesome too, right??! Anyway I feel a whole lot more self-love after knowing him, sooo he must've contributed somehow, eheee.

So thankyou my long lost twin, for the best road trip of my life. Here's to more road trips and hangouts where we can fool around, be ourselves and laugh to our heart's content. Cheers!

p/s To think that I legit feared I would never experience more chemistry with another man other than with my ex?? Foolish bissshhh. hhaha

*Evanna : I don't hype this girl enough. She's smart AF, gorgeous, and if I'm a bit more bi i would totally go for her, lol. The definition of girl crush.
** Sam : Sam is the founder of Edufication, and idk how to say this without sounding a tad cocky, but he personally selected us to be in Edufication. Ngeee.

Well this happened in 2002. Waktu tu aku baru darjah 3 tak silap aku. Maka terbanglah kami sekeluarga ke negara empat musim tu. Pergi negara omputih tapi English aku hancussss! Satu patah haram pon aku tak reti! Well, tak kisah lah kan. Lama-lama aku belajar lah, ade time lagi. But I never knew I needed it so soon…

Long story short, pada suatu hari (ecece macam fairytale dah) aku, Mama and Adik nak pergi pejabat Abah. Maybe time tu kitaorang dah beberapa bulan stay UK. Mak aku kata nombor 53, adik aku kata nombor 35 (ekceli nombor bus bertukar-tukar setiap kali penceritaan since aku dah tak ingat, tapi pastinya nombor mana dulu mana yang kemudian yang Adik and Mama aku gaduhkan tu, hehe). Nak dijadikan cerita, bas nombor 53 tiba..

“ Haa yang ni lah basnya” kata Mama. Lalu aku masuk bas.

“Bukanlah Mama, adik ingat, nombor 35” kata Adik. Lalu aku keluar bas.

“Ish ye lah, yang ni, 53 nombor yang betulnya”. Lalu aku masuk bas balik.

Benda ni berulang banyak-banyak kali. Masuk bas ikut pintu keluar. Keluar bas pon ikut pintu keluar. Tapi Mama and Adik aku masih tercegat di stesen arguing-kan nombor bas. Sekali…!

“Tap!”. Pintu bas tertutup. And waktu tu aku dalam bas! And Mama and Adik aku masih di stesen! And driver bas tak perasan since aku masuk ikut pintu keluar! And bas dah mula bergerak laju! Hohoho, kalut tak kalut aku cakap kau!

Okfoine. Great. Just great. Aku tak tahu nak minta tolong cemane pon! Kau bayangkan! So aku cakaplah..

“Please...please…”

Dengan muka yang dah nak nangis. Haha aku tahu please selalu digunakan untuk merayu, so aku pakailah. Perkataan ‘help’ pon taktahu, bengap tak bengap aku kocik-kocik dulu. Haihh, IQ tahap menteri dah *oopss!*

Sorang penumpang omputih ni perasan kodd and dia paham aku in trouble waktu tu, so dia pergi ke driver and cakap ‘stop the bus’. So aku keluarlah, dengan juraian air mata cuba mencari ibu aku :’( Mama aku pasti dah perasan aku takde so probably diorang dah tak takde kat stesen lalu sesatlah aku di kota London. Dah lah aku tak kenal tempat tu. Orangnya tak cakap bahasa aku lak tu. Aku muda lagi pulak tu. Kesian aku kecik-kecik dah stress gila gaban. Pastu!!!! Part ni yang kunun lawaknya tu..

Aku dihampiri oleh an African lady. Waktu tu aku dah nangis nangis merintih rintih sebut ‘Mama, mama, mama’.

African lady : “Heyy child where is your Mom? Did you lose your Mom?”

Aku : *Aku niatnya nak cakap AKU TAK TAHU. Tapi aku hanya tahu translation untuk Aku (I) dan Tak (No).. jadi bunyinya “I no.. I no..I no” *nangis-nangis*

Tapi of course, didengarinya adalah ‘I know’ iaitu ‘Saya tahu’. Maka konfiuslah African lady itu..Yelah kalau dah 'know' buat mende tercegat situ nangis-nangis kan? Jadi dia dok point semua perempuan bertudung sebut ‘Is that your Mom?’ atau ‘Is she your Mom’ and aku pulak tak putus-putus sebut ‘I no..I no.. I no..’ Dia pon naik tension agaknya lalu dia cakap ‘If you know, then where is your Mom?’ Hahahahaha sengal en aku.  Benda ni berlaku berulangkali untuk satu jangka masa yang agak lama jugak, and then, ALLAH NAK TOLONG!

Aku nampak cleaner tempat aku stay. Dia Indonesian, jadi keluarga aku rapat dengan dia. So aku pergilah ke arah dia. African lady tu mula-mula tanak lepaskan aku, cakap dia akan bawa aku ke police tapi nasib baik cleaner tu insist dia kenal aku and boleh bawa aku balik ke pangkuan keluarga. Alhamdulillah.

I don’t know, I don’t know’..

And kini aku dah bakal English teacher dah.

Haloooo. Kalau korang perasan sekarang trend kita belajar dari binatang. Belajar dari panda, belajar dari babi. Femes amos binatang sekarang I tell you, jeles I tau. Gegegegegegege ayat minta penampor. Anyways, sekarang ni aku nak kongsikan dua kisah berkenaan binatang. Satu pasai gajah, lagi satu pasai keldai.

Lari lah sebebas-bebasnya. Yang hairan nya, gajah-gajah tu duduk diam saja. Pelik bin ajaib sungguh lelaki tu. Curious habis dia.

So uols janganlah jadi seperti sang gajah ye! Keep it up and don't ever give up!

Wuhuuuu, happy ending!

Kalau kita analogikan.

Gajah dia gagal sekali melepaskan diri dia tanak usaha dah. Keldai walaupon tuan dia gagal berkali-kali nak tolong dia, dia usaha jugak.

Tahu formula success apa?

And of course du'a!  May we all be granted with glorious success, InsyaAllah!

Ayat Al-Quran

Firman Allah Taala bermaksud:

Missing my childhood..

I miss my childhood. I really do.  But missing childhood makes me feel like an outcast. All around me, I see, and I hear, 'Tak sabor nak kahwin!' 'Eee bila nak dapat baby ni' 'Yayyy degree done, gonna do my Masters next!'. Everyone seems to be progressing forward, anticipating the future. Not me. I want to go back.

Can you guys still remember?

When you're a kid, and it rains, you would run outside while shouting so joyfully. And friends won't nag you and say 'Eh jangan main hujan lah, nanti demam!'. No, they would join in the fun. I miss that.

Can you guys still remember?

Fights would be over silly things. Not sharing colour pencils. Forgetting to bring the plastic container to put in the tadpoles. All that stupid stuff. None of this adult-life-is-hitting-you-in-the-face crap. I miss that.

Can you guys still remember?

We would find pleasures in very small things. Seeing the swings unoccupied. Having the whole playground to yourself. Catching a frog. Finally reaching the very top of the tree after numerous tries. Snacking on 'ice-cream Malaysia' (aka aiskrim batang). As you grow older, you won't appreciate these things any longer. Well, how can you? You can't go play in the playground or go after frogs or climb trees. And snacking on a mere ice lolly will hardly leave you a 'glowing feeling' considering you now have money to buy KFC, Dominos and all that fancy food restaurants. Life was just so simple back then. I miss that.

Can you guys still remember?

The naivety, curiosity, ignorance! Gosh! We would wonder endlessly how babies are made. Why is it when you eat cotton candy in turns all sugary in your mouth. What is the cloud made of. Why is it that rainbows have so many colours. So many questions unanswered, and the thirst for knowledge! So adventurous back then. Going on self-made quests, trying out the silliest things without a care in the world. I miss that.

I miss the days when you can tell 'Teddy' all your problems and things will be alright again. I miss the days when the only guys that will make you cry is your own dad when he forgets to buy you candy back from work or your brother when he won't let you play with his toys. I miss the days when homework was just colouring. I miss the days when you can be a mess and people still thinks you're cute. And friendships, relationships, they were so easy! I miss so so many things.

2013 is coming to an end. Next year I will turn 21, by right, a real adult. I am in no rush to get married, or start a family. Nor am I excited to finish my degree quickly. Not only do I want to stay in the present, I wish, somehow, I can go back and relive those fond memories.

But that can't happen, and I accept that. I'm glad that I was granted a wonderful childhood. I know I'm lucky, seeing my brothers and sisters in the Middle East, having to be 'older' than they really are. Experiencing pain and hurt that even an adult would find hard to bear.

And honestly, being an adult is not all that bad. :)

So people, please take a minute to be grateful that you have had a wonderful past
and another minute to make duas for your brothers and sisters in Syria, Myanmar,Palestin, Egypt
and another minute to rejoice that another year is about to end! ALHAMDULILLAH, your soul is still intact with your body!

Movingggggggg forward peeps!!
Besides, my childhood may be over, but not my play time! :P

Sweet Love Story! AWW

I found an auuwwww-soooo-too-cuuuutttteeeeeeeeee of an article to not share! So here I am, gigihly typing so you could awww yourselves out! haha!

No Blind Love

By VIJENTHI NAIR
vijenthi@thestar.com.my

(Sorry, I'm gonna just skip to the best part, rather, I'm lazy, hehe) Basically the couple won the contest by Sunway Pyramid 'The Day We Met' with prizes worth over RM 15,000. Lui then brought his wife to Sunway Pyramid where they were surprised with a flash mob and then presented with their prizes :)

*      *       *
I love chuuu ~ hikhik

....Lui then expressed his love for his wife in public and said he was blessed to have such a wonderful wife by his side, before kissing her on the cheek as the crowd cheered on.
"I met her sometime in 1975, while I was walking along a street in Klang town. I chanced upon a blind man who was left helpless after being hit by a motorcycle. I immediately called the ambulance and was by his side to make sure he was in safe hands.
"Just as the ambulance took off, I realised that I forgot to give the blind man his white cane. So I continued to walk holding the white cane and reached a busy T-junction. Then suddenly, a woman came and grabbed my hand and quickly offered to help me get across, thinking I was blind.
"After we crossed over, she had a good look at me and found out that I was not blind. She let go of my hand, laughed it off and walked away. Since that incident, she was always on my mind and I regretted not asking for her contact number.
"However, a couple of days later while I was at a restaurant having lunch, I heard a familiar voice serving me coffee. When I turned to look, I was surprised to find the same woman who helped me cross the road now dressed as a waitress in the coffee shop.
"I never thought I would see her again. Since we had some time, we talked and exchanged our house telephone numbers and never looked back," he said.
Awwwwwwwww right? They so seriously deserved to win! And beside the article there's a picture of them, a seriously gorgeous couple even though they are both already 58 years old! Could it be the power of luurrveee? Lui also added that he doesn't mind spending money on his wife but not for flowers as it only lasts weeks, he'd rather buy her jewellery  and good quality watches that she loves. Third wave of awww-ing! I mean, can I have him? Haha, kidding, I'm so touched I would never want to spoil their happiness (as if I have the chance anyway, pfft) .

But the sweetest love story is of course of our beloved Prophet Muhammad's :)  (SAW)

Ee, nak sweet love story gak! kbai. Assalamualaikum! :)

The full sea roars and thunders..and calms. PART I

Weird title for a post huh? Actually to come up with that I had googled 'describing stormy seas'..Why stormy seas you might ask? Well, I picture life as the sea. Sometimes calm, sometimes stormy. Always changing. Uncertain. Below is a short story I found in Hami Asraff's blog. The difference is that I have translated it to English (forgive my errors). Credits anyway, here.

*       *       *

One day a well-known speaker started the seminar in a unique way.
While holding the RM100 note, he asked the audience,

"Who wants this RM100 note?".

Many raised their hands, showing that many was interested.

"I will give this to one of youbut before I do let me do this first."

He stood near the audience. He scrunched up the note with his hands until it was all crumpled.
So he asked again,

"Who still wants this money?"

The amount of raised hands did not change.

"Well," he replied,

"What will happen when I do this?"

he said, while dropping the money onto the floor & stepping it with his shoes. Though still intactnow the money was so very dirty, worn-out and crumpled.

"OKnow, are there those who are still interested?".

There was still a lot of raised hands.

Ladies and gentlemen, you have just learned an important lessonWhatever happens with this money, you are still interested because my doings to it will not reduce its value.

Despite the crumpled, worn-out and dirtythis money is still well worth RM100.

In life, we had several times fallen, torn, and filled with dirt as a result of our decision-making & situations that hit us in a situation before.

In such caseswe find ourselves unworthy, unmeaning.
But anything that had & will happenyou never will lose value in the eyes of those who loves youeven more so in the eyes of God.

So no matter how dirty you are, we still have a distinctive valueLove yourself, repent if you have sinned and keep trying even though you have failed because we are actually very valuable.

And don't we forget, we are all the same in the eyes of Allah, only eeman and piety differs us.

*       *       *

Before I continue, forgive my grammar errors, wrong use of vocab etc.

Let the quotes below speak my thoughts (pffft as if I have enough wisdom to think the same, but the least I do agree, very much) :

When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.”
― Paulo CoelhoThe Devil and Miss Prym

“Sometimes we bring to a struggle or cause the gifts we see most clearly, a courage, a strength, or a charm others have told us we have. But often we find more is asked of us than that, more than we intended or thought we possessed. We are asked to offer that which we thought dearest, to forgive what seemed unpardonable, to face what we feared the most and endure it. Sometimes we have to travel to the last step a path that was not of our own choosing. But I promise you this ... it will lead to a greater joy in the end. The difficulty is that the end is beyond our sight, it is a matter of faith, not of knowledge.
 Anne Perry, A Christmas Visitor
and my possible favourite..
“I have realized; it is during the times I am far outside my element that I experience myself the most. That I see and feel who I really am, the most! I think that's what a comet is like, you see, a comet is born in the outer realms of the universe! But it's only when it ventures too close to our sun or to other stars that it releases the blazing "tail" behind it and shoots brazen through the heavens! And meteors become sucked into our atmosphere before they burst like firecrackers and realize that they're shooting stars! That's why I enjoy taking myself out of my own element, my own comfort zone, and hurling myself out into the unknown. Because it's during those scary moments, those unsure steps taken, that I am able to see that I'm like a comet hitting a new atmosphere: suddenly I illuminate magnificently and fire dusts begin to fall off of me! I discover a smile I didn't know I had, I uncover a feeling that I didn't know existed in me... I see myself. I'm a shooting star. A meteor shower. But I'm not going to die out. I guess I'm more like a comet then. I'm just going to keep on coming back.
 C. JoyBell C.

Wee! To think myself as a comet! Sometimes people choose to be a comet, sometimes people don't want to, or rather, not knowing that they are capable of being one. I watched a movie called 'Three Wishes'. There was this scene that I particularly liked. I can't remember much but I'm trying my best :') (Rather, I invented a whole new dialogue)

(Jeanne, facing a hard time. With news her husband dead in war, having to raise two children on her own, and  starting her new business)

Jeanne: I wish I have the answers.
Jack: The answers to what?
Jeanne: Everything. What I should do, if my business will come through, am I being a good enough mother to my children.
Jack: You are. You're facing it. Christopher Columbus. When he first traveled, he didn't know what he was doing. He didn't intend to find a new world, just a faster way to India.
Jeanne: Like an explorer?
Jack: Yeah like an explorer..

Ok that was totally made-up. Kinda obvious how it was so totally crappy crap crap.I only remember a bit about the Columbus bit but the message was clear, we are all like explorers. We mights have hitches and bumps along the way, but the journey will always be rewarding. Maybe we won't have something as visual as Columbus, with a big fat America and his name down in history as a reward, but there will always something. Maybe something a bit more deep, life lessons, a new outlook on life, and insyaallah, strengthened faith :')

More to come ...

When 'Small Matter' Becomes Big

Assalamualaikum..

*Dia pilih nasi with ikan keli*
Adik: Sebab tak akan ditanya lah aku tak sebut. Per lah.
Abah: *laughs*. Ish, semua ditanya dalam kubur *So Dad launched into a story*

*Sebarang ketidaktepatan perbualan harap dimaafkan*

As you can zee from ze idezeous illuzztrahtions ze tooth peeeccckkk iz only a smaaall bit of ze  wood.

Aku waktu tu gaya macam relax, cool, tenang, berkarisma lagi berwibawa tapi dalam hati, takut weh! Bila difikir-fikirkan, Ya Allah banyak sangat. Aku ni memang gaya peminjam tak pulang. :'(

So dengan pantas kilat kalah Sonic the Hedgehog aku pi search dekat google "balak dan pencungkil gigi disoal di akhirat".. Tak banyak yang keluar, two pages je, and banyak tak kena pun, but Alhamdulillah, jumpa juga 'the complete story'. Credit here

Takut amat aku. Lepas ni berazam nak minta halal semua benda, harap depa maafkan :')   Actually banyak kisah ala-ala ni. Ramai pandang ringan sebab to them, small matter je lah.

For instance, satu story ni, seorang lelaki meminjam satu sen,REPEAT satu sen dan terlupa membayarnya. Apa jadi?

Kita ni, dok hutang nga membe, bape juta? Fikir-fikirkan dan selamat beramal okeh!! ;)

                       T___T

P.S Sorry, aku dok pandai ngat bercerita. Ingat nak lukis kartun untuk entry ni, nanti lah aku upload :)
P.P.S About the conversation above, bukanlah maksud aku (or my Dad) nanti di dalam kubur kita ditayangkan music video Korea lepastu disuruh identify itu group mana? No, it is just Dad's way to try and implant  islamic teachings into his children in every way possible. Thanks Dad :')
